Evidence for the involvement of central opioid receptors in mediating the alcohol-induced locomotor stimulation in mice. The effect of naloxone and naltrexone on the alcohol-induced locomotor stimulation was investigated in C57BL/6 mice. The results showed that, at the dose of 1.0 mg/kg naloxone significantly inhibited the alcohol-induced locomotor stimulation, while naltrexone (at a dose of 0.05 or 0.1 mg/kg) had no effect on the stimulation. The inhibition was of a dose-dependent nature, and the lowest effective dose was 0.25 mg/kg. However, when the mice were injected with 0.5 or 1.0 mg/kg naloxone before alcohol, the administration of alcohol produced a significant stimulation. These results suggest that the central opioid receptor has a stimulatory role in the alcohol-induced locomotor stimulation.Antegrade colonic enema as a form of diagnostic and therapeutic intervention in the management of anal incontinence. Anal incontinence following childbirth represents a significant problem in our society. It is a symptom that most often occurs in women who have delivered vaginally and is often characterized by soiling and reduced voluntary sphincter control. Anal incontinence can often be attributed to either rectal trauma or stricture. A variety of treatment options exist to decrease the incontinence and/or the urge to defecate. When the patient cannot be treated surgically, including either proctectomy or local sphincter reconstruction, the patient can be treated with medication or a combination of medication and diet modification. Trans-anal enemas may decrease the presence of fluid and the passage of gas and may decrease soiling and incontinence. The objective of this report is to review the use of antegrade colonic enemas as a means of both diagnosing and managing incontinence and urge incontinence.[Allogeneic transplantation in the treatment of severe aplastic anemia: report of nine cases and review of the literature]. We report nine cases of severe aplastic anemia (SAA) treated with allogeneic transplantation (ATx). The donor was related in two cases, and unrelated in 7. Two patients were lost from follow up. Two patients are alive in the allograft 1.5 and 5 years after transplantation, with a complete hematological reconstitution, showing a good quality
